MADELINE MERLO
With a crystalline country voice and a gift for capturing raw emotional truth, Madeline Merlo is emerging as one of modern country’s most compelling storytellers. Blending old-soul depth with a fresh, genre-fluid edge, the BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville artist has built an international reputation for writing songs that resonate deeply—and linger long after the last note.
A Platinum-certified No. 1 songwriter, Merlo first turned heads with her chart-topping hit “Champagne Night,” recorded by Lady A, after winning Season 2 of Songland. The success opened new doors, affirming her instincts as both a writer and artist, and setting the stage for her own breakout moment.
Raised in the blueberry fields of British Columbia, Merlo’s musical roots run deep. Inspired by icons like Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, and Faith Hill, along with a formative concert experience watching Shania Twain, she discovered early on that music was her calling. By 16, she was making songwriting trips to Nashville, and by 18, she had secured a record deal—quickly earning the CCMA Rising Star award in 2015.
Never afraid to evolve, Merlo has continued to push boundaries with a sound that fuses country, soul, pop, and R&B influences. Her 2022 Slide EP and the streaming success of tracks like “It Didn’t” showcased her versatility, while earning her a place in CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2024.
Now, with her deeply personal project ONE HOUSE DOWN (from the girl next door), Merlo steps into her most authentic era yet. The six-song collection explores heartbreak, healing, and self-worth with unflinching honesty, pairing cinematic storytelling with modern country production from hitmaker Zach Crowell and a standout guitar contribution from Keith Urban.
At its core, the project is a message of empowerment—an anthem for anyone who has ever felt “one house down” from perfection. Through vulnerable lyrics and soaring vocals, Madeline Merlo transforms life’s uncertainties into strength, reminding listeners that growth, resilience, and self-love are the true markers of success.
